Take it to the Ballot!

A citizen-led group, which we hope you’ll become a part of, will put four initiated ordinances on an upcoming Colorado Springs ballot!

What do the ordinances do? They protect our rights!

What can you do to make history? Two things:

1. Volunteer to help gather signatures. We need to gather 25,000 signatures in 180 days to get these ordinances on an upcoming City ballot. Information about how to obtain a petition and gather signatures is available HERE. 250 people gathering 100 signatures each would change our City for the better. Please help!

2. Sign a petition. To sign, you must be a Colorado Springs registered voter. Look HERE for locations to sign.

Ordinance 002 protects our property rights by keeping new development from producing loud sounds and persistent hums that could be produced by a concert venue or a data center. This ordinance will lead to smart, respectful development, and it still allows for free, open-to-the public events, like the Ballon Classic and street festivals. Ordinance 003 protects our property rights by prohibiting the mayor’s ability to issue hardship permits for businesses and groups that don’t follow our City’s existing laws. For events that are free and open-to-the public, strict parameters are in place to make the sound bearable to adjacent residential neighbors. This ordinance is a Win-Win, because it provides clear guidance to businesses and other group, while providing protection to residential property owners and renters. Ordinance 004 protects our water. Because our Colorado Springs Utilities are owned by the City’s citizens, deciding how our water is used falls within our rights. This ordinance requires any new development (with exceptions for things like hospitals and schools) that will use more than 200,000 gallons of water per day to get approval by a vote of the people. Ordinance 005 protects our right to privacy and so much more. This ordinance prohibits the City from using automated location tracking systems from tracking our vehicles and our persons. Our government should not be tracking us. There are many examples of this technology making mistakes that land people in jail and abusing the systems in other ways. We appreciate and respect our law enforcement and are confident in their ability to fight crime without infringing upon our rights. Click HERE for the full ballot language.
