How a citizen ordinance becomes law

Article XII of the Colorado Springs City Charter gives electors the power to propose ordinances to Council, and to adopt or reject it at a City election. An initiative petition must be signed by electors equal to at least twenty percent of the ballots cast for Mayor in the last election for that office.

☑ Get the measures through the Initiative Review Committee

☑ Get the measures through the Title Board

☐ WE ARE HERE → Collect approximately 25,000 signatures of Colorado Springs registered voters

☐ Regular or special City election

☐ Measures become law
